Squad Scraps is a unique no-gi jiu jitsu tournament series in St. Louis, focused on building community, raising local skill levels, and showcasing talent both regionally and globally. Our team-based events are free for spectators and streamed live, making jiu jitsu accessible to all.

The Rules

  • ✺

    Only white and blue belts can sign up. Teams must have at least one white belt and at least one blue belt 

  • ✺

    Each team must weigh an accumulated weight of 750 lbs

  • ✺

    Each match will be submission only, 6 min rounds.

  • ✺

    When starting, the ref will flip a coin to determine which team is first to field a player after the first player is revealed the second team will respond by fielding their player. After the match both players leave the mat and the second team fields a player and the first team responds and so on till all players have had a match.

  • ✺

    If there is no submission in the 6 min round it will be considered a draw and both players will exit the mats and the next person from each team will go out.

  • ✺

    The team with the most submissions wins. In case of a tie, each team will field one player of their choosing to do a tie breaking round 5 min sub only or ref decision.

    No heel hooks

  • ✺

    No Slams, 3 second hold above the waist will be reset standing to respect the slam

  • ✺

    If in the event of a draw in the final match there will be  a 5min over time round in the event the overtime round is A draw one round of EBI overtime will take place to award the winner

✺ Frequently asked questions ✺

  • Send us an email and let us know you are interested. We also always need refs for events and if you volunteer to do that, you guarantee your teams spot in the next event.

  • Yes, we understand how hard it is to keep 4 guys healthy and not have anything come up. We will allow you to change the members of your squad before the event starts. They must still meet the weight and rank requirements.

  • You can have replacements on the bench to compete if someone gets hurt. They don’t get to sub in mid match but they can replace the injured person the next round.

  • We will still allow the event to go on. Your team will lose 1 submission for every 5lbs you are over in the first round of the event.

  • Yes they will be live streamed on our YouTube channel

  • Yes, we have awesome trophies and awards. Each tournament will have different awards.
